Live Music in 2025

I was lucky to attend, and be involved with, a total of 31 live music events in 2026. I was able to document 30 of them, one could not be contained to film. You can also stream everything below on this YouTube playlist.

Note: At the end of last year I told myself that I really need to see more rock music. I did it!

Great way to start the year. Was happy that friends and family in the US could see them play later in the year.

Insane all-day event with a list of performers to long to list here. See it here.

Great band playing great songs. Really fun to see Chan again.

I don’t think I’d every seen his bands (that I love), and his solo stuff is great.

Opened for Brokaw, super electrified in the rock club and really great. Rob show #1 for the year. More to come.

Old pal Allen Callaci planned a Tokyo trip and Goosewinders Rick and Melody came alomg. Jason joined on drums for this Mountain Goats cover about Allen. Originally released on this Union Pole 7″.

Cheap Trick played Budokan, we played Nanahari. My son Joey joins on drums for this jammer.

Twinkloop played with us that night, really fun.

I asked for more rock, I got it. Unwound was so fucking good. I went to all of three shows.

Second show in Tokyo. Sara holding it DOWN.

Insanely good wrap on the Japan tour.

Scrape, shimmer and the room is alive.

Night one of the Ayal Senior Summer 2025 tour. Joined Tetuzi for a shoot out all over Tony Conrad’s The Flicker. Wowzers.

Night two of the tour, which united these four. Look out for a cassette coming out on Union Pole soon.

Ayal and Leo played solo sets and a few songs together, really special.

Insane rain. And then we played as a trio…

Record release party for From 5pm to 5am.

Reunited with Ayami and Takashi, really beautiful.

My band played too, our only show of the year. But we recorded in September. Looking forward to sharing it.

Really nice sounds at Nanahari again.

They played a great Friday afternoon show in my neighborhood, total treat.

A last minute show came together, all who attended were super lucky that it did.

A very nice evening sponsored by the Irish Embassy. They bought drinks and hors d’oeuvres after the performance!

Solo guitar night at Fuzz! Rob!

Tetsu! I played as well, but no video to prove it.

Really lucky to have the chance to attend this show in the Saitama hills. Thank you to Takashi for setting it up and driving me out there.

The third (and final) performance on the mini-tour. So good.

Intense and compact and just right on it.

Rock! Rock! Rock!

Rock! Rock! Hardy Rock!

Fun last night in town, Tennis Coats in for the jam.

Noise that rocks opening for Deerhoof.

Melting, melding, warmth and totally satisfying.

Finally got a chance to see Kawol, really connected to his so-called Poor Music.

What the hell are those instruments and what are they doing to them? Panel is Mark Sadgrove and Rob Noyes.

This is my favorite type of music. And yeah it rocks.

Baby Ikki with sound support by Eiko Ishibashi.

Mike rocks.
