John Fahey approached Jeff Fuccillo after Jeff opened for him at a gig at Satyricon in Portland, Oregon. He asked him to record an LP for a label he was “doing A&R for” called Revenant.
On April 11, 1998 they met at Smegma studios to record the album. John played various tapes and random noises through the over head speakers and told Jeff to just keep playing. These sessions (without John’s stamp of approval – he said they sounded “too nice”) ended up becoming a release called Disturbed Strings.
At the end of the night, the two sat down for just over a half hour and did a guitar duo. The “good” parts make up these 8 edits. One thing for sure, they don’t sound “too nice”.
